PostHeaderIcon Cerebral Palsy: What Is It?

There are a few things that you should know about cerebral palsy before even attempting to understand this article. First, it is a condition that affects people’s motor skills like walking or other such problems. The people who have this condition are not retarded as most people will think becausecerebral palsy is a condition of the muscles that is generated by brain damage. But people can be born with this condition as well. So, you should not accuse people of being retarded only because they walk differently or they show a difficulty talking or expressing themselves. So, here are some more things that you should know about this degenerative condition, and how it may manifest and how you should react with a person that has this disorder.

When it comes to cerebral palsy people often mistaken it with paraplegia or with retarded people and this is just wrong. Rather, it is a condition that affects the muscles of a person. It can occur after a trauma to the head or you can be born with it. It is called “cerebral” because the muscular problems of an individual occur after some damage of the cerebral matter is done. This will render that person’s leg muscles, for example, to get stiff and unusable. This form of palsy is actually a type of paraplegia induced by damage to the brain. It can also affect the muscles of the face thing which will make the sufferer have difficulty speaking. This is why some people who have this condition at their face muscles are considered retarded. Some people who have palsy have been found to have certain difficulty learning because of the damage of their brain but this doesn’t mean that they are slow and that they are retarded. But in some cases there were people who were diagnosed with a great difficulty to learn because of this condition, so in some cases it is possible that people might be just a little retarded because after all this is a condition related to the brain.
